Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has assured that the Telangana Government is fully committed to the Musi Rejuvenation Project and will not render a single person living along the Musi River homeless. “We will not cause harm to even a single individual,” the Chief Minister declared while announcing the immediate constitution of a high-powered Cabinet Sub-Committee on Musi Rejuvenation.
The Sub-Committee will be headed by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and include IT & Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Revanth said while speaking in the Legislative Council on Monday.
The Chief Minister said the panel has been formed to prepare a clear roadmap for the river’s revival, ensure complete rehabilitation for every displaced family, and incorporate constructive suggestions from all stakeholders. He appealed to the Opposition to stop spreading false propaganda against the project and offered that if they were uncomfortable submitting suggestions directly, the Cabinet Sub-Committee would serve as the platform to receive their inputs.
Criticising the previous BRS regime for abandoning the Musi project midway, the Chief Minister pointed out that allegations by Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao on Musi Riverfront Development Corporation was merely political rhetoric. “The Government is ready to seek suggestions from everyone and will implement the project with complete transparency,” he added.
The Chief Minister revealed a major plan for an elevated corridor running along the Musi River from Gandipet to Gourelli, enabling travel across 40 km in minimal time.
While leading with the Musi Rejuvenation focus, the Chief Minister also outlined a comprehensive development agenda for Hyderabad and Telangana.
He announced that the State has secured permission for India’s first underpass road at Begumpet Airport, aimed at eliminating traffic signals and ensuring smooth vehicle flow. Footpath encroachments are being cleared to protect lives and dedicated spaces allotted for street vendors. A multi-level car parking facility has been set up near KBR Park, while elevated corridor works on the Nalgonda and Vijayawada routes are progressing rapidly.
Highlighting the vision of “Telangana Rising 2047”, the Chief Minister said the Government is developing PURE, CURE and RARE regions for balanced, sustainable growth. An industrial corridor spanning 10,000 square kilometres will be established across the State. To prevent Hyderabad from becoming another pollution-choked city like Delhi, the Government has introduced the HILT policy and is relocating polluting industries beyond the Outer Ring Road, freeing up land for middle-class housing. Industrial zones are being reclassified into multi-use zones.
Metro Rail expansion works will begin shortly after the Government takes over the project from L&T, with emphasis on last-mile connectivity. Development of Secunderabad and Cherlapally railway stations is also underway.
Stressing “Smart Governance” over mere good governance, the Chief Minister said every department now operates under a unified policy framework for the Core Urban Region Economy. For administrative convenience and faster development, Greater Hyderabad has been strategically divided into three Municipal Corporations. Plans for works at 29 locations have already been announced.
The Chief Minister reiterated that Hyderabad, known as the City of Rocks and Lakes with historic landmarks like Charminar, will be transformed into a more livable, traffic-free and pollution-free metropolis while preserving its glorious heritage.
