L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd has successfully installed its second solar power plant of 1.2 MWp on RESCO model at the Uppal Depot and submitted the application for sanction of the Chief EIG (Government of India). D.V.S. Raju, Chief EIG (Govt. of India) for HMRL projects inspected the solar power plant along with the outdoor Auxiliary Substation of 0.8/33kV.
After that, he formally inaugurated it in the presence of Sudhir Chiplunkar, COO/L&T Metro and KEOLIS Hyderabad MRTS’s MD S.C.Mishra and other senior officials of HMRL, L&T Metro & KEOLIS on Saturday, duly communicating his sanction. Prior to this installation, Hyderabad Metro Rail had an operational solar capacity of 11.19 MWp; with the addition of this project, the total installed capacity has increased to 12.41 MWp.
The existing solar installations were contributing nearly 14% of the overall energy consumption of Hyderabad Metro Rail. With the commissioning of the additional 1.2 MWp plant, the share of green energy has now risen to approximately 16% of the total power consumption. During his visit, the Chief EIG (Govt. of India) inspected advanced test benches developed by L&T Metro Rail for analyzing defects in various components of metro rolling stock.
He conveyed his appreciation on the efforts made by L&T Metro Rail and Keolis teams in containing malfunctioning of relays, components of Rolling Stock equipment which were causing disruption to train services.
