BJP slams Congress over farm crisis

Metro India News | Hyderabad : Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Monday criticised the Congress government for allegedly ignoring the agricultural crisis caused by El Nino, accusing Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, ministers and ruling party MLAs of camping in Delhi instead of addressing farmers’ problems.

Rao said a proposed meeting to discuss drought-like conditions caused by deficient rainfall had been cancelled. Claiming that a farmer had died by suicide in Adilabad district due to distress, he questioned the government’s priorities and criticised the leaders for attending Rahul Gandhi’s programme in Delhi.

He alleged that Telangana, including Hyderabad, was facing severe water and power shortages. He demanded that the government announce its plans to ensure irrigation during the Rabi season and implement the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. The BJP would launch an agitation if farmers’ problems remained unaddressed, he warned.

Rao also said the BJP would not allow Rahul Gandhi to enter Telangana until the Congress implemented its six poll guarantees.Questioning the Congress’s demand for a meeting with the Chief Justice of India over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Rao said the party should approach the Supreme Court with evidence.

Reacting to Revanth Reddy’s remarks comparing the BJP to Ravana and the Congress to Lord Ram, Rao questioned the Congress’s association with the Hindu deity, citing its opposition to the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

He also criticised the Congress, INDIA bloc and AAP, asserting that they could not harm the country.

Responding to Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar’s challenge to prove alleged voter deletions, Rao said he was ready to accept it. He asked the minister to bring affected voters to the Chief Electoral Officer’s office so their claims could be verified.
