Metro India News | Hyderabad : Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy on Wednesday expressed strong concern over attempts by certain political elements to create regional friction between districts, warning that such discord would severely harm Telangana's broader interests. Speaking informally to media representatives at his camp office here, Sukhender Reddy clarified that both the Palamuru-Rangareddy and Dindi lift irrigation schemes were designed with a unified goal to bring fertility and guaranteed irrigation water to Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda districts.

Highlighting recent Cabinet decisions aimed at expediting pending works, he noted that the government had approved the allocation of 1.5 TMC per day from the Edulla reservoir for Palamuru and 0.5 TMC for the Dindi project. Gutha Sukhender Reddy termed it “inappropriate” that some groups were politicising this allocation to incite regional sentiment among the people of Mahabubnagar. Alleging that unnecessary controversies were being cooked up to pressure Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the Council Chairman explained that diverting water directly from Narlapur would entail massive extra expenditure, cause delays, and risk environmental and statutory clearances.

"Technical viability, financial implications, and execution timelines must be the primary criteria when taking up irrigation projects," Sukhender Reddy emphasised, calling on all stakeholders to safeguard the unity and regional harmony of Telangana.
