metro india news I hyderabad

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday exuded confidence that the Congress will return to power in Telangana by winning 117 Assembly seats on its own in the next Assembly elections.

Addressing the Rythu Ashirwada Sabha in Khammam, he said the Congress government's continued focus on farmers' welfare, social justice and development would ensure a decisive mandate for the party. He also urged people to strengthen the Congress in the upcoming Parliamentary elections and called for making Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister.

Revanth Reddy predicted that the next Assembly elections would not be held in December 2028 but likely in May or June 2029, by which time the proposed delimitation process would increase Telangana's Assembly constituencies from 119 to 182 and Lok Sabha seats from 17 to 26.

Expressing confidence in the party's prospects, he declared that the Congress would secure 117 of the 182 Assembly seats and form the government for a second consecutive term. He said Congress workers would work tirelessly over the next three years to achieve this goal and strengthen the party across the State.

The Chief Minister appealed to people to ensure a strong victory for the Congress in the next Parliamentary elections by helping the party win 20 of Telangana's proposed 26 Lok Sabha seats. He said a stronger mandate from Telangana would contribute to the Congress' national resurgence and help Rahul Gandhi become the Prime Minister of India.

Farmers' welfare remains top priority

Revanth Reddy said the Congress government has consistently stood by farmers since assuming office and has implemented several welfare measures aimed at strengthening agriculture.

He highlighted that the government has enhanced Rythu Bharosa assistance to Rs. 12,000 per acre, implemented crop loan waiver for eligible farmers, continued schemes such as Rythu Bandhu's successor support, and retained welfare initiatives including Shaadi Mubarak introduced during the previous government.

The Chief Minister also pointed to the distribution of ration cards, supply of fine rice, 200 units of free electricity, and construction of Indiramma houses for eligible beneficiaries as evidence of the government's commitment to people's welfare.

Remarks on Harish Rao and BRS internal politics

Revanth Reddy questioned the future of senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao, alleging uncertainty over his political stand and challenging him to publicly declare that he would never join the BJP.

The Chief Minister also referred to allegations made by members of the former ruling family regarding the BRS' future and claimed there were growing internal divisions within the party. He said the Congress government remained focused on governance while the Opposition was preoccupied with political speculation.

Launching a strong political attack on the BRS leadership, Revanth Reddy alleged that the people of Khammam had played a decisive role in defeating the previous regime in 2023 and would ensure that the party does not regain political relevance.

He accused former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of relying on "false surveys" and misleading political narratives to create confusion among the public. The Chief Minister dismissed claims that Congress was losing public support, saying no credible political survey could accurately predict election outcomes years before elections, particularly when delimitation and reservation changes are yet to be finalized. He asserted that Congress workers would continue their efforts until the Kalvakuntla family was politically defeated.

Bhatti slams BRS over Kaleshwaram

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka reiterated the Telangana government's commitment to building a globally competitive economy while strengthening farmer welfare and women's empowerment in Telangana during the Rythu Ashirwada Sabha held at Jagannadhapuram, Chintakani Mandal, Khammam district on Friday

He said the government aims to transform Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047, stressing that agriculture is not merely a profession but a culture and the backbone of the state's economy. He stated that the Congress government has spent Rs 1,67,877 crore on agriculture in just two and a half years and released Rs 1,009 crore under Rythu Bharosa, while depositing Rs 9,000 crore into farmers' accounts within nine days, unlike the previous BRS government's delayed Rythu Bandhu payments.

Bhatti said the government has waived Rs 21,000 crore in crop loans, is procuring every grain produced by farmers, paying Rs 14,000 crore annually towards free power for agriculture, and providing compensation for crop losses.

Highlighting women centric initiatives, he said the government has already extended Rs 67,000 crore in bank linkage loans to women's self help groups and aims to provide Rs 1 lakh crore over five years. He also cited free bus travel, higher loan limits and entrepreneurship opportunities for women.

Criticizing the previous BRS government, Bhatti alleged large scale irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project and accused its leaders of misleading the public through false propaganda. He asserted that the Congress government would protect public resources, ensure transparent governance and continue welfare initiatives while steering Telangana towards sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
