In a move to facilitate devotees embarking on the sacred journey to the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has announced the operation of special buses. District Public Transport Officer M.Y. Danam revealed the details on Monday, highlighting that the buses will also cover other prominent pilgrimage destinations, including Varanasi and Ayodhya, as part of an eight-day spiritual itinerary.
The pilgrimage route, spanning approximately 3,600 kilometers, is designed to provide devotees with a seamless and enriching travel experience. The APSRTC has introduced three categories of buses to cater to varying passenger preferences and budgets, Super Luxury at Rs.8,000 per person, Star Liner Non-AC Sleeper at Rs.11,000 per person and Vennela AC Sleeper at Rs.14,500 per person.
Officials clarified that the ticket prices are the same for both adults and children and cover only the bus fare. Passengers will need to bear additional expenses for food, accommodation, and other personal needs during the pilgrimage. For larger groups, private buses can be arranged upon request for groups of 29 or 35 devotees.
Reservations for the special buses can be made through multiple channels, including online booking platforms, APSRTC ticket booking agents, and nearby bus stations. For further inquiries, passengers can contact the following helpline numbers: 8074298487, 0866 2523926, or 0866 2523928.
In addition to the services originating from Vijayawada, APSRTC has also arranged special buses from Rajamahendravaram and Kovvur. Officials confirmed that reservations for these routes have already been fully booked, with the buses set to commence their journey on February 1, aligning with the Vijayawada schedule.
As the Maha Kumbh Mela draws millions of devotees from across the country, APSRTC’s initiative is expected to provide a convenient and reliable mode of transportation for those from Andhra Pradesh seeking to partake in this historic event.
