Metro India News | AMARAVATI :

Andhra Pradesh has become the first state in India to provide free access to Canva for Education to all government school students, teachers, and education department officials. The initiative has been launched through a partnership between the School Education Department, Samagra Shiksha, and Canva, a leading visual communication and design platform.

The programme aims to strengthen digital learning and equip students with essential 21st-century skills such as creativity, communication, critical thinking, design thinking, and problem-solving. Students will be able to create presentations, videos, infographics, reports, and other interactive learning content using advanced digital tools available on the platform.

As part of the initiative, Canva will be integrated with the state’s LEAP (Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh) platform, Google Workspace ecosystem, and Chromebooks used in schools, subject to technical feasibility. This integration is expected to create a seamless and engaging digital learning environment.

Teachers across the state will receive phased training through a Training of Trainers (ToT) model to ensure effective implementation. The programme will also introduce educators to the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in classrooms.

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) will develop curriculum-aligned Telugu and English templates linked to Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) goals. The platform also includes privacy safeguards, teacher-controlled AI features, and secure access controls.

Education Minister Nara Lokesh said the initiative is aimed at transforming students into creators and innovators by providing world-class digital tools. The MoU for the programme was signed on June 18 at Vidya Bhavan, Mangalagiri. The rollout will take place in four phases, benefiting lakhs of students and teachers across Andhra Pradesh.
