The Andhra Pradesh government is moving forward with its ‘Swachh Andhra’ initiative, aligning with the goals of the Swachh Bharat Mission, Minister Narayana announced at the 12th Asia-Pacific Regional 3R Circular Economy Forum in Jaipur. He emphasized that the state has set ambitious targets to achieve a zero-waste environment by 2047, ensuring sustainable living conditions for future generations.
Minister Narayana, along with Swachh Andhra Corporation Chairman Pattabhiram, Municipal Administration Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar, Director Sampath Kumar, and Swachh Andhra MD Anil Kumar Reddy, participated in the international forum. The three-day event is focused on integrated waste management, environmental protection, and climate reforms. Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav and representatives from multiple countries also attended.
The minister stressed that cleanliness, environmental balance, and an integrated economic system are the cornerstones of ‘Swachh Andhra.’ He outlined key initiatives, including electricity generation from waste, bio-CNG plant installations, and liquid waste treatment facilities. The state is committed to achieving zero-waste climate resilience by 2047 through national and international partnerships focusing on waste value solutions and climate-conscious urban planning.
As part of the forum, the Andhra Pradesh delegation reviewed global waste management strategies and visited the Legacy Waste Remediation Plant in Sevapura, near Jaipur. Andhra Pradesh currently has 5.5 million metric tons of legacy waste, and the government is implementing various techniques to clear it. The delegation studied Rajasthan’s waste management technology for potential implementation in Andhra Pradesh.
