Former Minister Harish Rao on Sunday lashed out, at the state government and alleged that farmers across the state were facing difficulties due to the negligence of the Congress government. He criticized the government for treating the farmers with disdain and for displaying negligence regarding crop procurement. Harish Rao visited the Siddipet Agricultural Market Yard and interacted with the farmers.
Speaking to the media on this occasion, Harish Rao reiterated that the state government was being negligent in the procurement of various crops . He pointed out that maize procurement centers had not yet been opened in Narayanakhed, Adilabad and Nizamabad districts. He demanded that these centers be opened immediately and that the farmers be paid the Minimum Support Price (MSP). He suggested that officials should personally visit the market yards. Harish Rao noted that, as procurement centers have not been established in many locations, the farmers were being forced to sell their produce at low prices and were consequently incurring losses.
He criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy by stating that while he advises farmers to diversify their crops, there was currently no mechanism in place to purchase those alternative crops should the farmers choose to cultivate them. He characterized the Revanth Reddy administration as a government that causes distress to the farmers. He further demanded that the government provide relief to the farmers , who have suffered the crop damage due to hailstorms , in various districts . He insisted that the 'Rythu Bandhu' financial assistance be disbursed to the farmers in a timely manner.
