For nearly six decades, Andhra Mahila Sabha Arts & Science College for Women has remained committed to its founding vision of empowering women through quality higher education. Established in 1966 as an evening college in Hyderabad, the institution began with a noble objective, to provide learning opportunities for working women and homemakers. Starting with just 15 students in PUC and five students in B.A., the college has grown into a leading autonomous institution with more than 2,000 students.
The institution was officially inaugurated on 14th July 1968 by the then Deputy Prime Minister of India, Shri Morarji Desai. It created history as the first women’s college in the Osmania University region to introduce the B.Com programme.
The college follows the philosophy of Padma Vibhushan Dr. (Smt.) Durgabai Deshmukh, the “Mother of Social Work in India”, whose vision focused on women’s education as a pathway towards economic empowerment and self-reliance. Her belief that education must provide employable skills continues to inspire the institution’s academic journey.
Under the guidance of Chairman Sri Chakrapani IAS (Retd.), Secretary & Correspondent Sri Ch.V. Sai Prasad and Principal I/C Dr. K. Karuna, the college continues to deliver quality education with a focus on student development.
The autonomous college offers undergraduate programmes including B.A. in EPP and EPSYP, B.Com in General, Computer Applications and Business Analytics, BBA, BBA Healthcare Management, B.Sc in BZC, BtZC, MSCS and B.Sc. Honours Computer Science. Postgraduate courses include M.Com, M.A. Economics and M.Sc. programmes in Organic Chemistry and Mathematics with Computer Science.
Celebrating its Silver Jubilee in 1994 and Golden Jubilee in 2018-19, Andhra Mahila Sabha continues its tradition of excellence, nurturing confident and capable women leaders.
