New Delhi:
Amazon announced its plans to build India’s largest ‘delivery in minutes’ network by scaling Amazon Now, its ultra-fast delivery within minutes, to customers in over 300 cities across the country. Amazon Now has become the fastest-growing ecommerce business unit in Amazon India’s history with orders having doubled every quarter since launch.
Amazon will scale up its specialized fulfillment infrastructure to offer the largest selection of products to customers across the country – when they need them – tens of thousands of products delivered in minutes or a few hours, a wider selection of over one million within the same-day, over four million the next day and millions more with unlimited, free & fast Prime Delivery.
Amazon also announced ‘Sammaan’, a dedicated program focused on the welfare of tens of thousands of delivery associates powering its ecommerce and quick commerce business. A portion of Amazon India's recently announced $300 million investment in operations and associate well-being will go towards strengthening and scaling this program. Samir Kumar, Country Manager, Amazon India said, "Amazon Now is the fastest-growing ecommerce business unit in Amazon India’s history with orders having doubled every quarter since launch.
We are seeing a great response from customers, especially Prime members who triple their shopping frequency once they start using Amazon Now. I am excited as we launch ‘Sammaan’, a dedicated program focused on delivery associate welfare. It is our promise that as we grow faster, the people powering that speed grow with us, with better health and wellness, education support for their families, and a safer working environment every day."
‘Sammaan’ for delivery associates: ‘Sammaan’ is a comprehensive welfare program for thousands of delivery associates in Amazon’s India logistics network. Initiatives include scholarships for the education of associates' children, enabling access to government benefits and financial inclusion programs, comprehensive insurance coverage, on-road safety measures and more. As part of the program, Amazon will also expand its Ashray rest centers to 250 locations this year, open to any delivery associate in the industry.
