Industry experts on Friday asserted that while Artificial Intelligence (AI) may displace nearly 85 million jobs globally by 2030, it is expected to create about 97 million new roles across the sectors. These observations were made during "Industry Conclave 3.0" organized by the Career Guidance Centre of GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, on the theme “Engineering the Future: Innovation in Core Sectors”.

Experts emphasized that the job market will continue to expand but the students must equip themselves with skills relevant to the AI-driven era. They advised the engineering students to gain practical exposure through internships, industry visits and hands-on learning while constantly upgrading their knowledge.

Speakers highlighted the importance of adaptability and collaboration with industry, noting that attitude accounts for nearly 75 percent of success in recruitment, beyond technical knowledge.

Preet Yadav, Head – India Innovation Ecosystem at NXP Semiconductors, and Suman Gorla, Delivery Lead at Stellantis, attended the inaugural session as chief guests and delivered keynote addresses on innovation and industry–academia collaboration. They underscored the growing importance of innovation and strong industry–academia collaboration in shaping the future of core engineering sectors.

The conclave featured three panel discussions on emerging trends in energy, mobility, manufacturing and AI-driven technologies, with participation from industry leaders and academicians. Panelists also visited laboratories at the GITAM School of Core Engineering and appreciated the university’s advanced infrastructure for research and learning.
