Metro India News | Hyderabad : On the occasion of World Spine Day on October 16, medical experts have highlighted the importance of spinal health and timely treatment of spine-related disorders. Unilateral Biportal Endoscopic (UBE) Spine Surgery is emerging as a promising minimally invasive treatment option for elderly patients suffering from lumbar spinal canal stenosis, a condition that causes narrowing of the spinal canal and puts pressure on the nerves.
UBE spine surgery uses two small incisions through which a camera and specialized surgical instruments are introduced to relieve pressure on the nerves. The technique allows surgeons to visualize the affected area clearly while minimizing damage to the surrounding tissues. In appropriately selected patients, it may help reduce postoperative pain, enable earlier mobilization and support faster recovery compared with conventional surgical approaches.
Dr. Peddineni Anudeep, Consultant Spine Surgeon, Medicover Hospitals, Secunderabad, said that the goal is not merely to perform surgery, but to relieve pressure on the nerves and help patients regain the ability to walk independently and enjoy a better quality of life. Doctors have advised the public to maintain proper posture, exercise regularly, manage body weight and avoid sitting in the same position for prolonged periods. They have also emphasized the importance of seeking medical advice for persistent back pain instead of relying on self-medication.
