Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Sunday visited major project sites in Jharkhand and Bihar, reviewing power investments exceeding Rs 40,000 crore, highlighting the group’s growing presence in eastern India.

In tribal-dominated Godda, Jharkhand, Adani inspected the 1,600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant, built at a cost of over Rs 16,000 crore. The facility supplies electricity exclusively to Bangladesh under a long-term agreement, giving it cross-border economic significance. Company officials noted the plant has generated thousands of jobs and improved rail connectivity in the region.

In Bihar, Adani checked progress on a planned 2,400 MW ultra-supercritical power project at Pirpainti near Bhagalpur, with an estimated investment of over Rs 27,000 crore. The project, expected to be commissioned in four to five years, aims to meet the state’s rising industrial and urban electricity demand.

Adani Power, India’s largest private thermal power generator, secured a Letter of Award last August for a 25-year electricity procurement agreement from the Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd (BSPGCL). These projects place the Adani Group among the largest private infrastructure investors in Jharkhand and Bihar, states that have traditionally seen limited large-scale industrial investment despite rich natural resources.

During the visit, Adani interacted with engineers, technicians, and frontline workers at Godda, and met tribal women from surrounding communities. Earlier, he visited the Baba Baidyanath temple in Deoghar, offering prayers at the sanctum sanctorum. Assisted by priests, his rituals included offerings of bel leaves, sacred water, and chanting of Vedic mantras. Speaking to reporters, he said he prayed for the nation’s prosperity and well-being, fulfilling a long-pending wish to visit the shrine.
