474 booked for drunk driving

Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted two-day citywide drunk and drive special enforcement drives on May 15 and 16, aimed at improving road safety. During the operation, a total of 474 motorists were booked for driving under the influence of alcohol, according to Joint Commissioner of Police D. Joel Davis, IPS.

Of those caught, 417 were two-wheeler riders, 24 were three-wheeler operators, and 33 were drivers of four-wheelers and other vehicles.

Breath analyzer results showed varying blood alcohol concentration levels among offenders.

103 cases were recorded in the 30–50 BAC range, 188 cases in 51–100 BAC, 100 cases in 101–150 BAC, 44 cases in 151–200 BAC, 19 cases in 201–250 BAC, 8 cases in 251–300 BAC, and 12 cases exceeded 300 BAC.

The Joint Commissioner reiterated that strict zero-tolerance action will continue against drunk driving violations. He said such special drives will be conducted regularly to prevent road accidents and urged citizens to cooperate fully with traffic police. He warned against repeat violations and emphasized public safety on roads across city.
