The Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has thrown an open challenge to Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy for a debate on the quantum of funds given by the Centre to Telangana since its formation. He urged Kishan Reddy to set a date and time, assuring that he, along with Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, would present the actual figures before the people.
Disputing the BJP’s claim that Telangana received Rs. 10 lakh crore under the NDA regime, Revanth Reddy, in an interaction with media at CLP office in Assembly on Monday, demanded a detailed discussion on the contributions Telangana made to the Centre in terms of taxes and what the state received in return from New Delhi
He reiterated his commitment to securing funds for Telangana, stating, “I will go to Delhi not 39 times, but 99 times if needed. Every visit to Delhi is to bring what is necessary for the state,” Revanth said. When asked if he would undertake an indefinite fast in New Delhi, CM said he would, if need be, to get funds for Telangana.
Clarity needed on RRR and Metro Projects
Revanth Reddy countered Kishan Reddy’s claim that the Centre had approved the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project, clarifying that only the northern part was sanctioned while the southern portion remained pending. “The project remains incomplete unless the entire ring is sanctioned. Similarly, there is no proper sanction or clarity on the Central assistance for the Hyderabad Metro,” he said, questioning the Union Minister’s statements.
The CM alleged that Kishan Reddy was avoiding important government meetings and even those organized by Union Ministers visiting the state due to his close ties with former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and his family. “Kishan Reddy will not cooperate, fearing it may hurt KCR. He even skips all-party meetings. Doesn’t he even know that Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had visited his own constituency Secunderabad and held a review on urban housing scheme?” Revanth Reddy questioned.
State BJP obstructing projects
The CM accused Telangana BJP leaders of obstructing key projects, particularly land acquisition for infrastructure development. “BJP leaders like Eatala Rajender and K. Laxman are creating hurdles for developmental projects,” he alleged. He also questioned why the Centre was funding the cleaning of Sabarmati, Yamuna, and Ganga but not Hyderabad’s Musi River.
Expose on BRS governance
Taking a dig at KCR, KTR, and Harish Rao, Revanth Reddy accused them of lacking concern for the people’s welfare. “When people suffer in Telangana, they do ‘Teenmar Dances.’ When crops dry up, BRS rejoices. When people face hardships, BRS feels happy. Are there any such wicked leaders anywhere in the world?” he remarked.
He further accused KCR of misrepresenting the state’s debt figures. “The previous government claimed Telangana’s debt was Rs. 3.5 lakh crore, while the actual burden exceeded Rs. 7 lakh crore. We discovered the truth only after taking office,” he revealed. The CM assured that the CAG report in the Assembly would expose financial irregularities under the BRS regime.
Commenting on the recent caste census, the CM credited it for political parties nominating BC candidates for the MLC elections. “All parties have given tickets to BCs due to the caste census findings,” he noted. Revanth also alleged electoral fraud in the graduate elections, blaming BRS leader Harish Rao for manipulating the results.
