Washington: US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth warned Iran that American strikes would continue until Tehran accepted President Trump’s nuclear terms, saying, “If we need to negotiate with bombs, we’ll do it.” Speaking at US Central Command headquarters in Florida, Hegseth said military pressure was intended to secure a nuclear deal.
He claimed more than 100 million barrels of oil had moved through the strait under US protection and said Washington had disrupted Iranian maritime trade. “The US controls the SoH. We’re able to bring oil in and out and other things with partners and have done so for weeks, in ways the Iranians don’t want to acknowledge.”
Signalling the possibility of further action, he said: “We’re very good at it. Nobody is better in the world.” —Agencies
