Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu reiterated his government’s commitment to rebuilding the state and reviving the construction industry while inaugurating the NAREDCO Property Show in Guntur on Friday. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of the construction sector in driving economic growth and creating livelihoods.

“We are moving forward with the slogan ‘Build AP.’ After five years of destructive governance that brought the construction sector to a standstill, we are determined to revive it. That’s why I’ve come to inaugurate this property show. I want the construction sector to regain momentum, and the government will stand by those who step forward to develop this industry,” CM Naidu assured.

The Chief Minister criticized the previous government for its neglect of the construction sector, which he said had no significant presence during their tenure. “Seven months ago, we inherited a state that was paralyzed. All systems had collapsed, and the construction sector was totally wrecked.

Wherever we looked, there was darkness and destruction. People trusted us, gave us a 93% strike rate and 53% of the vote share, and we began the state’s reconstruction immediately after coming to power,” he said.

Naidu highlighted the recent Rs.2.8 lakh crore worth of investment projects and developmental initiatives launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the state. He expressed optimism that these projects, coupled with the state’s “Brand AP” image, would attract significant investments.

The Chief Minister outlined several reforms his government has introduced to aid the construction and real estate sectors. To address the sand shortage and ensure uninterrupted construction activity, the government introduced a free sand policy. “If anyone is unable to access sand, this government has given them the right to demand it,” Naidu stated.

With the real estate sector contributing 7.3% to GDP and projected to grow to 20% by 2047, the government is focused on promoting its development. The government has repealed the Land Titling Act introduced by the previous regime and brought in an Anti-Land Grabbing Act to curb land misappropriation.

Naidu assured action against those who misused Transferable Development Rights (TDR) bonds, emphasizing his government’s commitment to protect the innocent while punishing the guilty.

Naidu announced plans to attract Rs.4 lakh crore in investments, creating 4 lakh jobs in the immediate term and aiming for 20 lakh jobs over five years. The government has also committed Rs.50,000 crore to restart works in Amaravati. He unveiled plans for a 183-km Outer Ring Road around Amaravati, larger than Hyderabad’s ORR, to integrate the capital city with Guntur and surrounding towns.

The Chief Minister also highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s potential to become a hub for green hydrogen and renewable energy. CM Naidu emphasized the importance of urban development, not just in Amaravati but in cities like Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Nellore, Kurnool, and Tirupati.

He called for responsible construction practices and warned against illegal sand transportation and unauthorized constructions. “We are building Amaravati as a model city. There is no other city like it in the country. Along with Amaravati, we will develop other cities to make them rank among the best in the nation,” he said.

The Chief Minister urged stakeholders in the construction sector to innovate and capitalize on emerging opportunities. “Construction is essential for a civilized society. Innovations in this sector can triple your earnings. While we are providing the necessary support, you must move forward and make the sector thrive.

We aim to create an environment where industries flourish, agriculture becomes profitable, and tourism thrives. These will lead to wealth creation, which, in turn, will drive the growth of the real estate sector. Together, we will rebuild the state and ensure prosperity for all,” he said.

The event, which brought together builders, developers, and stakeholders from across the state, reflected the government’s commitment to reviving the construction industry and accelerating economic growth in Andhra Pradesh.
