■ Water Board MD inspects Tattikhana and Banjara Hills reservoirs

■ Proposed 900 mm main pipeline alignment review between Agrasen Circle – Tattikhana

■ Identification of missing links for connecting various water resources in the vicinity of KBR Park

■ Additional filling points should be set up to reduce tanker travel and filling time.

Metro India News | Hyderabad : Hyderabad Water Board MD K. Ashok Reddy has directed officials to prepare the required water supply infrastructure in advance to effectively utilise the additional Godavari water expected to reach the city by the end of 2027. On Tuesday, Ashok Reddy inspected the Tattikhana and Banjara Hills reservoir premises and reviewed the existing water supply system, proposed pipelines, tanker filling facilities and future requirements with officials.

At Tattikhana, he inspected the alignment of the proposed 900-mm diameter MS main pipeline from Agrasen Circle to the reservoir. Officials said the pipeline would interconnect the Prashasannagar Reservoir Main and Venkatagiri Reservoir Inlet Main, strengthening water supply to Tattikhana and enabling better utilisation of the additional Godavari water.

Considering the one-way traffic system around KBR Park, Ashok Reddy directed officials to identify suitable locations for new tanker filling points to reduce travel time. He also asked them to prepare a plan to ease pressure on existing filling points and increase pumping capacity wherever necessary to speed up tanker filling.

He further directed officials to identify missing pipeline links around KBR Park and connect available water sources so that water could be diverted between areas according to demand.

The MD also asked officials to identify suitable sites for new reservoirs required to fully utilise the additional Godavari water expected by 2027.

At the Banjara Hills Reservoir, Ashok Reddy examined the proposed compound wall design and directed officials to shift existing tanker filling points to suitable locations without affecting vehicle movement. He suggested a dedicated filling point for high-capacity tankers to speed up filling and ensure smoother traffic within the premises.

Officials were also asked to identify a suitable site for new section and subdivision offices within the reservoir premises, keeping future administrative requirements in mind.

Ashok Reddy said pipelines, reservoirs and interconnection systems should be developed in advance rather than waiting for additional water to become available. The objective, he said, was to make optimum use of every available water source and improve water supply to the city.

Directors Prabhu and Kiran Kumar, along with the concerned GM and other officials, participated in the inspection.
