In a major initiative to strengthen public connect and improve civic services, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has launched a special outreach program titled “Water Board.. Basti Bata.” The initiative aims to identify and resolve drinking water and sewerage issues directly at the field level through early morning inspections and public interaction.

As part of the program, Managing Director Ashok Reddy visited Shankar Nagar, HUDA Colony, Deepthi Sri Nagar and Miyapur areas in Serilingampally ward at 6 am. During water supply hours in Shankar Nagar, he inspected several households, examined water quality, and interacted directly with residents regarding supply timings and adequacy. Consumers expressed satisfaction over meeting their daily requirements.

During the visit, the MD cautioned a resident against washing premises with drinking water, calling it a waste of precious resources. He advised the use of mops instead and warned of penalties for repeated misuse. In another instance, he suggested diverting wastewater into a cesspool and encouraged construction of rainwater harvesting pits, assuring technical assistance from the Board.

Sewerage de-silting works in HUDA Colony and a major choke point on Miyapur main road were also inspected. Officials explained that road construction had led to blocked manholes and silt accumulation. The MD proposed temporary diversion to a nearby trunk main and directed officials to prepare permanent restoration proposals.

The program, launched as per the directions of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, will see officials—from MD to managers—visiting bastis every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 7 am to 10 am.

JMD Mayank Mittal reviewed complaints in SR Nagar division, while EDs across Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri regions conducted extensive field visits. From 6 am onwards, CGMs, GMs and officials actively inspected works to ensure improved service delivery across their jurisdictions.
