Minister for Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Komatireddy Venkat Reddy urged people to remain vigilant about the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and ensure that their names are duly registered. The Minister advised voters to carefully verify their names in the electoral rolls. If a name is missing from the draft electoral roll, the voter can file a claim or objection and seek restoration of their vote with the assistance of local Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and Booth Level Officers (BLOs), he said.

“Voting is a constitutional right guaranteed to every citizen. I urge leaders to pay special attention to the issue and ensure that no eligible voter is left out,” the Minister said. Komatireddy Venkat Reddy was speaking after paying floral tributes to the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in Nalgonda town on Thursday on the occasion of his 82nd birth anniversary.

Recalling Rajiv Gandhi’s contributions to the country, the Minister said the former Prime Minister had played a significant role in laying the foundation for a modern and technology-driven India. Describing Rajiv Gandhi as a visionary leader, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said he ushered in several revolutionary changes and laid the groundwork for a future-ready India. He noted that Rajiv Gandhi became Prime Minister at the age of 40, becoming the youngest person to hold the office at the time.

“Rajiv Gandhi did not serve the country merely as a Prime Minister. He was a visionary leader who anticipated the needs of future India and guided the nation in that direction,” Komatireddy said. The Minister said Rajiv Gandhi recognised the importance of emerging technologies at a time when the world was rapidly moving towards a technological revolution.

“The importance he accorded to computers and telecommunications laid a strong foundation for the Digital India that we see today. His decisions aimed at expanding information technology from villages to cities reflected his remarkable foresight,” he said. Komatreddy Venkat Reddy said Rajiv Gandhi’s decision to reduce the voting age from 21 to 18 empowered millions of young people to participate in shaping the country’s future.

The Minister said Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had been following in the footsteps of his father and upholding his ideals by fighting for the interests of the country’s youth despite facing police repression. “There is a need for Rahul Gandhi to become the Prime Minister of the country,” he said. The Minister said Rahul Gandhi had undertaken the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ rising above political considerations and conveyed a strong message that every citizen was equal and that there should be no hatred among people.
