Couple to remain non-working royals, live outside London; children reportedly enrolled in British school for the new term in September

London: Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have decided to move back to the UK with their two children later this month but will remain non-working members of the royal family, according to British media reports.

Harry, 41, the younger son of King Charles III, moved to the US with his family six years ago after stepping back from frontline royal duties.

Harry and Meghan, 45, are expected to live in a non-royal residence outside London. Their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, have reportedly been enrolled in a British school for the new term in September.

Buckingham Palace said it does not comment on developments concerning non-working members of the royal family. There has been no official statement from the couple’s representatives. The King was reportedly informed of the move, which was first reported by The Daily Telegraph and The Sun.

Harry has previously raised concerns about his family’s security in Britain and pursued legal action seeking high-level armed protection. He lost a court battle over the issue last year. Security funding for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex when they return to live in the UK this month is a “private matter”, PM Andy Burnham said.

“Well, this is a private matter. It’s a matter for Harry and for Meghan, and we wish them well in the moves that they’re making,” Burnham said. The former BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt suggested the couple’s return would have left William, the future king, “apoplectic”.
