In a heartening example of administrative intervention translating into real-life impact, the Andhra Pradesh government’s support has brought a dramatic turnaround in the life of a poor family in East Godavari district. The family of Sanamandra Posibabu, once struggling with extreme hardship, is now celebrating Ugadi with renewed hope and dignity.

Posibabu’s family has expressed deep gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, whose assurance during a public interaction led to a series of welfare measures that significantly improved their living conditions. Officials said the case stands as a model of how targeted governance and follow-up action can uplift vulnerable households.

According to Housing Project Director Nathi Bujji, the family’s incomplete house construction was taken up and completed as per assurances given by District Collector Keerthi Chekuri. The works included plastering, flooring tiles, cupboards, painting, construction of toilets, fencing, staircase sidewalls, and land levelling. These improvements were carried out at an additional cost of around Rs 2.5 lakh, beyond regular housing scheme allocations.

In addition, financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh was provided through the SC Corporation to support the family’s livelihood. Officials said multiple departments, including Housing, DWAMA, Mines, and SC Corporation, worked in coordination to ensure holistic support, with the total assistance reaching approximately Rs 3.5 lakh. The completed house and benefits were handed over ahead of Ugadi, marking a new beginning for the family.

Recounting the turning point, Posibabu said the Chief Minister had personally intervened during a pension distribution programme held on July 1, 2025, in Malakapalli village of Tallapudi mandal. “I had stepped out to a nearby shop when officials called me. On learning this, the Chief Minister stopped his convoy, called me, and dropped me at my home. That moment changed my life,” he said.

Moved by the poor condition of the house, Chandrababu reportedly directed officials to take immediate action to rebuild it and also ensure sustainable livelihood support. Acting on these instructions, officials initiated repairs and are now facilitating the establishment of a footwear shop for Posibabu, who is a traditional artisan.

Describing the transformation as “a new life,” Posibabu thanked the Chief Minister, district administration, and all officials involved. “This is an unforgettable help for our family,” he said.
