Tirupati reports first COVID-19 case as AP active caseload rises

Andhra Pradesh has reported a fresh rise in COVID-19 infections, with Tirupati recording its first case in the latest wave, while the state’s total caseload has increased to 49.

A 65-year-old woman from Tirupati Urban tested positive for COVID-19 after being admitted to the district hospital with severe respiratory symptoms. According to health officials, she underwent testing on July 23, which confirmed the infection. Tests conducted on her family members, however, returned negative results, with no signs of the virus detected.

Health authorities said more than 10 new cases were reported across the state on Saturday, taking the cumulative number of cases to 49. At present, 24 patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. Fresh infections have also been reported in NTR and Guntur districts, while Krishna, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam and Alluri Sitarama Raju districts have each recorded one new case.

According to official Health Department data, four COVID-19-related deaths have been reported in the state so far during the current wave. With the number of infections rising, the Health Department has stepped up surveillance and precautionary measures. Officials are continuing to monitor the situation closely and have urged people, particularly the elderly and those with underlying health conditions, to remain vigilant and seek medical attention if they develop respiratory symptoms.
