The Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Varma, has approved the "Bhu Bharati" legislation, paving the way for its immediate implementation. Post this development, Revenue, Housing, Information, and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has directed officials to take necessary steps to operationalize the Act without delay. The Bhu Bharati Act is designed to address long-standing land issues in the state and provide comprehensive revenue services to its citizens.

The government has expressed its gratitude to the Governor and appreciation for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, fellow ministers, public representatives, officers, and intellectuals who contributed to shaping this landmark legislation.

This Act reflects the collective input of the public, aiming to bring solutions that resonate with the needs of the common people and landowners, the Minister said.

A permanent solution to land problems

Minister Srinivas Reddy emphasized that the new Act aims to resolve widespread land disputes that have persisted for decades across Telangana. He highlighted that the previous Revenue Act of 2020 failed to deliver due to the lack of proper rules and regulations three years after its enactment.

However, the new law establishes a robust framework by appointing revenue officers in every village to streamline revenue administration at the grassroots level, the Minister said.

He criticized the prior government for fragmenting the revenue system for selfish interests, leaving villages mired in unresolved land issues. In contrast, the current administration has prioritized a people-centric approach, ensuring revenue services are accessible and efficient for all, Ponguleti added.

Bringing revenue services closer to the people

The Indiramma government in Telangana is committed to aligning governance with public aspirations. The minister urged the Revenue Department to work cohesively to fulfil the government's vision of bridging the gap between revenue administration and the common people.

By formulating clear rules and regulations under the Bhu Bharati Act, the minister stressed that the government aims to restore faith in the revenue system and enhance public satisfaction.

A copy of the approved bill was officially handed over to the Minister by Principal Secretary, Revenue Naveen Mittal, in Secretariat on Thursday.
