Former minister and BRS state general secretary Jeevan Reddy at a press conference held at the BRS party office in Jagtial district headquarters on Tuesday said that the two terms under KCR, Telangana was in the top position in the country in several development indicators. He added that the recent public gathering addressed by K. Chandrashekar Rao resembled the Telangana statehood movement atmosphere.

Jeevan Reddy launched a sharp attack on the Revanth Reddy-led government. He alleged that while KCR had supported farmers through the Rythu Bandhu scheme, the current government had failed to implement the promised Rythu Bharosa for three cropping seasons.

He further claimed that there is no mention or implementation of crop insurance schemes under the present administration. According to him, promises made to landless labourers regarding financial assistance have also been ignored. He accused the government of failing to deliver on the Kalyana Lakshmi promise of providing gold, saying that even benefits meant at the time of marriage are being delayed beyond childbirth stages.

Jeevan Reddy also criticised the renaming of welfare schemes, stating that if the government did not like the name KCR Kit, it should have at least implemented it under a different name such as Indiramma scheme, instead of discontinuing it.

He alleged that due to the state government not releasing its share of funds for fee reimbursement, central funds were being diverted back. He further claimed that there was negligence in maintaining irrigation and infrastructure projects, particularly referring to the Medigadda barrage, which he said had developed issues 30 months ago.

He questioned the government’s delay in repairs, stating that an MDSA report had already been submitted a year ago but no action had been taken. He accused the government of deliberately delaying restoration works to target KCR politically.

He also raised concerns over the Thummadihatti barrage project, asking why it was not built despite being mentioned in election promises. Highlighting irrigation achievements under the previous government, he said Kaleshwaram project was constructed to utilise nearly 1000 TMC of water for Telangana.

He warned that if irrigation projects fail due to weather conditions, northern Telangana could face desert-like conditions, and questioned whether the current government would accept responsibility.

Jeevan Reddy also recalled political history, accusing Revanth Reddy of bringing up the “cash-for-vote” episode to destabilise the then TRS government. He said political conspiracies were used to damage Telangana’s governance earlier.

Referring to his own political journey, he said his public life was an open book. He stated that he had served as Panchayat Samiti President in 1981 and remained in the same party despite several defections around him. He added that even leaders like Indira Gandhi had supported him in certain political decisions.

He also mentioned contesting multiple elections and winning in difficult circumstances, including the 2014 elections in the combined Karimnagar district. He said he had never actively sought ministerial posts and always maintained political integrity.

Jeevan Reddy further alleged that during Revanth Reddy’s leadership, opposition vote share increased significantly in certain constituencies, including Kodangal. He also claimed that despite holding a key position in Malkajgiri, Revanth Reddy’s performance did not translate into electoral success.

He stated that Telangana society was closely watching KCR’s speeches and that large audiences were gathering to listen to him. He claimed that attempts to obstruct KCR’s public meeting had failed and the event was successful.

He added that after facing mental stress for nearly 20 months, he was politically rehabilitated by KCR and that a new phase of public life had begun for him.

Concluding his remarks, Jeevan Reddy said that only KCR could ensure the revival of Telangana’s development. He criticised Congress leadership, claiming internal weakening of the party and accused Revanth Reddy of running the party like a private limited company.

He also made references to caste census figures and alleged inconsistencies in the state government’s data representation. He concluded by urging that real development could only be achieved through stable leadership, while reiterating his support for KCR’s leadership in Telangana politics.
