Doctors at SVS Hospital, Mahabubnagar successfully performed a complex tracheal stent procedure on a 22-year-old woman from Palakurthi in Warangal district, enabling her to breathe normally after years of dependence on a tracheostomy tube. The patient had consumed pesticide in 2019 and required ventilator support for nearly ten days. As a result, her airway became narrowed, forcing her to breathe through a tracheostomy tube since then.

The Department of Pulmonary Medicine conducted a CT scan and decided to remove the tracheostomy tube and place a tracheal stent to reopen the airway. Considering the patient’s young age and financial difficulties, the hospital management decided to perform the procedure free of cost. The medical team successfully completed the nearly three-hour procedure and placed a stent in the patient’s airway.

Head of the Pulmonary Medicine Department Dr. Pradyut Vagre, R.M.O Dr.Venu and Medical Superintendent Dr. Hariprasad Reddy congratulated the medical team for successfully performing the challenging procedure. The patient’s parents expressed their gratitude to the hospital management and doctors for providing life-changing treatment free of cost.
