Suzlon launches Rs 10,500-crore wind energy projects

Andhra Pradesh further strengthened its position as a clean-energy investment destination on Tuesday with IT Minister Nara Lokesh inaugurating Suzlon’s 1,325 MW wind energy projects, involving an investment of Rs 10,500 crore and expected to generate around 1,600 direct and indirect jobs.

Lokesh also inaugurated the expanded Suzlon smart blade manufacturing facility in Anantapur, which now has two additional production lines. The expansion is expected to strengthen the state’s renewable-energy manufacturing ecosystem and support the growing demand for wind power.

Speaking at the event, Lokesh said Andhra Pradesh was building a world-class clean-energy ecosystem to support its next phase of industrial and economic growth. He described Suzlon’s latest investment as a sign of growing investor confidence in the state’s policies and business environment.

The latest projects build on Suzlon’s more than two-decade presence in Andhra Pradesh. The company has so far catalysed approximately Rs 15,500 crore of investment in the state and is executing around 1,600 MW of wind projects.

Suzlon’s Anantapur manufacturing facility has an annual production capacity of 1,260 MW and currently supports more than 1,200 direct and indirect green jobs. The company is also supporting workforce development, with around 12,000 young people, including 3,000 women, undergoing green-skills training through facilities in Uravakonda and Vijayawada.

Suzlon Vice Chairman and Co-Founder Girish Tanti said the new projects mark another milestone in the company’s long-term partnership with Andhra Pradesh. CEO Ajay Kapur noted that the state’s expanding industrial, technology and data-centre ecosystem would significantly increase demand for reliable clean energy.

The investment reinforces Andhra Pradesh’s emerging role as a hub for renewable energy, advanced manufacturing and green employment, aligned with the state’s broader Viksit Andhra Pradesh development vision.
