SRM University-Andhra Pradesh celebrated the tenth edition of “Research Day” on Friday, providing a platform for research scholars to present their work, exchange ideas and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. Dr SSV Ramakumar, Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of AM Green, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the energy transition from an Indian perspective, Dr SSV Ramakumar expounded on the Princeton Wedge Approach to tackling climate change step by step rather than relying on a single big solution.
Prof. D Narayana Rao, Executive Director Research – SRM Group of Institutions, stated that SRM University-AP’s vision and mission were to develop a strong research ecosystem that integrated industry collaboration and academic excellence. Vice Chancellor of SRM AP, Prof. Ch Satish Kumar commented that the systematic deterioration of research culture in India, driven by differential funding underscores the need for every private university to invest in a robust research ecosystem/
Prof. C V Tomy, Dean-School of Engineering and Sciences, SRM AP, informed that the research forum received 574 abstracts, 441 from UG/PG students and 133 from PhD scholars, across a wide spectrum of thematic areas. Dean - Research Prof. Ranjit Thapa and convenor of 10th Research Day Dr Ayesha Parveen Haroon lauded the research community for their active participation upholding SRM AP's research-intensive and multidisciplinary nature.
Participants of the oral and poster presentations were also awarded gold and silver medals for outstanding research presentations. Research contingency awards that recognized excellence were also awarded, with the top two PhD papers receiving a cash prize of Rs 25,000 each. Additionally 7 faculty members were presented with outstanding research awards, and 34 faculty members were awarded certificates under various categories.
