Telangana is emerging as one of the fastest growing states in the country attracting investments, developing infrastructure, providing a fillip to electric mobility, facilitating digital connectivity in rural areas and simultaneously investing in aerospace projects and the man behind the economical and technological surge is the  IT, Electronics, Industries & Commerce Minister Sridhar Babu. With a governance model that blends policy clarity, speed of execution, and innovation, Telangana is leading from the front.

T-Fiber: Powering Digital Inclusion

At the core of Telangana’s transformation is the T-Fiber initiative, which is redefining internet connectivity as a basic necessity. Under Sridhar Babu’s leadership, the state has made remarkable progress in bridging the rural-urban digital divide, ensuring that even the most remote villages are connected to high-speed internet. The project addresses the critical challenge of last-mile connectivity and has already emerged as a model for other states and countries.

With an investment push of Rs 3,189 crore under the Amended BharatNet Programme, Telangana is building a strong digital backbone. Around 4,800 government institutions have already been connected, generating nearly Rs 70 crore in revenue, and the target is to expand connectivity to 50,000 institutions. The network has also supported major platforms like the Telangana Rising Global Summit, highlighting its importance in governance and economic development.

A major milestone is the launch of commercial services from April 2026, offering internet at just Rs 350 per month, making digital access affordable for every household. Complementing this infrastructure is the AI Rural Lab in Peddapalli, where students are being trained in more than 100 artificial intelligence tools. This initiative reflects the government’s vision of not just connecting people but also empowering them with future-ready skills.

Life Sciences & Pharma: Strengthening global leadership

Telangana continues to dominate India’s life sciences sector, with Hyderabad emerging as a global hub for pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, vaccines, medtech, and digital health. Under Sridhar Babu, the sector has witnessed rapid expansion, attracting global investments and strengthening its innovation ecosystem.

Between 2024 and 2026, the state has secured investments worth around Rs 54,000 crore in life sciences, creating nearly two lakh jobs. Additionally, fresh investments of around Rs 300 crore further reinforce the sector’s steady growth. Global majors such as Eli Lilly have announced a Rs 9,300 crore bio-pharma manufacturing and quality hub in Hyderabad, while companies like Sanofi and Agilent are expanding their research and development presence through Global Capability Centres.

Telangana contributes about 40 per cent of India’s pharmaceutical production and 50 percent of exports, along with a significant share in global vaccine output. Infrastructure like Genome Valley, Medical Devices Park, and the upcoming Pharma City continues to attract investors. With increasing focus on biologics, gene therapy, and AI-driven healthcare, Telangana is positioning itself at the forefront of next-generation medical innovation, further strengthened by global platforms like BioAsia.

EV, automobile & green mobility: Driving the future

One of the most dynamic areas of growth under Sridhar Babu’s leadership is the electric vehicle (EV) and automobile sector, where Telangana is rapidly emerging as a hub for green mobility and advanced manufacturing. The state has attracted a diverse range of investments from leading companies, creating thousands of jobs and building a strong ecosystem.

MEIL Group has announced investments of Rs 8,000 crore across sectors including solar power plants, electric vehicles, pumped storage, defence manufacturing, resorts, and wellness, with the potential to generate around 10,000 jobs. Electronics & semiconductor push: Building high-tech capability

Telangana is also making strategic moves to become a hub for electronics manufacturing and semiconductor technologies. The proposed India–Taiwan Industrial Park and electronics clusters are expected to attract global investments and integrate the state into international supply chains.

The government’s plan to introduce a Semiconductor Policy and establish a Semiconductor Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad reflects its long-term vision. These initiatives aim to develop expertise in chip design, artificial intelligence, and advanced computing, ensuring Telangana’s competitiveness in high-tech industries.

Aerospace & Defence: Expanding strategic strength

Telangana’s aerospace and defence sector has gained significant momentum, placing Hyderabad on the global map for advanced manufacturing. The establishment of large-scale Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities is a major milestone, strengthening the state’s role in aviation services.

Collaborations with companies like Tata Advanced Systems and global defence manufacturers are driving high-value production, including components for Rafale aircraft. At the same time, startups like Skyroot Aerospace are pushing the boundaries of space innovation, reflecting Telangana’s growing capabilities in the private space sector.

With increasing exports and global partnerships, aerospace and defence are becoming key pillars of the state’s industrial growth.

Industrial Growth & Ease of Doing Business

Telangana’s industrial ecosystem continues to thrive under Sridhar Babu, with thousands of industrial units approved since 2024. The state has attracted investments exceeding Rs 31,000 crore, generating over one lakh jobs.

The government is also focusing on MSMEs, cluster development, and regional expansion, ensuring that growth is balanced and inclusive.

Logistics, Infrastructure & Employment

Telangana is strengthening its logistics network with dry ports, logistics parks, and improved air cargo infrastructure, positioning Hyderabad as a national logistics hub. Policies like Telangana Logistics Policy 2.0 aim to reduce costs and improve efficiency, supporting industrial expansion.

Employment and skill development remain key priorities. Through initiatives like the Digital Employment Exchange of Telangana, thousands of youth are being connected to job opportunities. Skill programs aligned with industry needs are ensuring a steady supply of trained professionals across sectors.

A Vision for Global Leadership

Telangana’s growth story under Sridhar Babu is a reflection of vision, execution, and ambition. From Rs 3,189 crore in digital infrastructure to Rs 54,000 crore in life sciences, from Rs 31,000 crore in industrial investments to large-scale EV and mobility projects, the state is building a comprehensive and future-ready economy.

With strong participation from companies like MEIL Group, Mahindra & Mahindra, Keto Motors, Zero-21, Gravton Motors, KGV Hybrid Green Mobility, Bharath Garuda, and Black-buck Electric Vehicles India Pvt.
