Metro India News | MAHABUBNAGAR : District Superintendent of Police D. Janaki has urged female students to remain cautious while interacting with strangers on social media and avoid sharing personal information online. Speaking at a cybercrime awareness program organized at the Government Girls Junior College in Mahabubnagar on Wednesday, as part of Cyber Jaagrukta Diwas, the SP warned that cybercriminals were using social media friendships to collect personal photographs and videos and subsequently blackmail victims.

She advised students against sharing personal details with strangers, clicking suspicious links, or disclosing OTPs and banking information. She also stressed the importance of using strong passwords for social media accounts. Janaki urged victims of online financial fraud to immediately contact the 1930 cybercrime helpline or register complaints at www.cybercrime.gov.in. She explained that reporting fraud within the first hour could help authorities prevent the transfer of stolen money.
