Shankaracharya to lead Hindu New Year in Kashi

Param Dharmadhish Jyotishpeethadhishwar Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swamishri Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati 1008 will arrive in Kashi tomorrow, March 18, traveling from Chhattisgarh via Prayagraj. Devotees and cow devotees will welcome him with flower showers and chants of praise.

According to media in-charge Sanjay Pandey, upon arrival at Shri Vidya Math, the Shankaracharya’s charan padukas will be worshipped by devotees as a mark of respect. On the first day of Chaitra Navratri, March 19, he will release the Sanatani Panchang on the occasion of the New Year celebrations. During Navratri, under his guidance, various religious rituals, special worship, and auspicious ceremonies will be conducted.

On the first day of Navratri, during the morning mangal ceremony marking the 20th annual celebration, young students will offer the first arghya to the New Year’s rising sun and present a series of cultural performances. Devotees will have the opportunity to participate in spiritual observances and celebrate the festival in the presence of the Shankaracharya.
