Serial burglar arrested in Ameenpur

A habitual offender involved in a series of house burglaries under the limits of Ameenpur Police Station has been arrested by police, and around 45 tolas of stolen gold jewellery were recovered and returned to the victims.

The accused, identified as Mandalla Shiva alias Erra Shiva (32), a native of Nagarkurnool district currently residing in Meerpet, Hyderabad, was arrested and remanded on May 16, 2026. Police said the accused had been committing thefts in Malkajgiri, Cyberabad and Nagarkurnool districts for several years and has a criminal history involving 24 cases.

According to investigators, the accused targeted locked houses in Ameenpur and Bandam Kommu areas during midnight hours in April. He allegedly broke open doors and cupboards using iron rods and escaped with gold and diamond ornaments. Police confirmed his involvement in three burglary cases registered at Ameenpur Police Station.

With court permission, the recovered gold ornaments were handed over to victims Venkataramana and Bhavani in the presence of media by Ramachandrapuram ACP Ch. Y. Srinivas Kumar on Friday.
