SC clears way for Ram Temple construction in Akiveedu

The Supreme Court has cleared the way for the construction of a proposed Ram temple in Akiveedu of West Godavari district by dismissing a petition challenging the project. The apex court upheld the validity of the No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the district administration, observing that there was no legal impediment to constructing the temple on government land, provided it complies with the applicable rules and regulations.

The petition had questioned the decision to permit the construction of the temple on government land. However, the Supreme Court found no merit in the challenge and ruled that granting permission for the project in accordance with established procedures was legally valid. The verdict removes the legal hurdles surrounding the proposed temple, paving the way for construction work to proceed.

The ruling was welcomed by local residents and devotees, who expressed hope that the project would now gather momentum. Many said the judgment had brought clarity to the long-pending issue and would allow the temple construction to move forward without further legal uncertainty.

Reacting to the verdict, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Speaker Raghu Rama Krishna Raju welcomed the decision in a post on X. He said the Supreme Court’s order had given the green signal for the construction of the Ram temple at Akiveedu and noted that the petition opposing the project had been dismissed. In his post, the Deputy Speaker described the verdict as a victory for “truth, justice and Lord Rama,” while extending greetings to devotees.
