Round table seeks release of fee dues

BRS leaders and representatives of student groups, private college managements and public organisations have warned of launching an agitation from Nalgonda if the Telangana government fails to release pending fee reimbursement dues for students.

Speaking at a round table meeting held in Nalgonda, the participants criticised the Congress government over the delay in clearing fee reimbursement payments, alleging that the issue was affecting poor students and the education sector.

Former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s party leaders questioned the government’s priorities, alleging that funds were being spent on ministers’ helicopter travel and the Chief Minister’s Delhi visits while pending student fee payments remained unpaid.

The leaders alleged that the education sector was being deliberately weakened and claimed that keeping the education portfolio with the Chief Minister reflected the government’s approach towards the sector.

The meeting discussed strategies to mount pressure on the government for immediate release of fee reimbursement funds and protect the interests of students and colleges. MLC Koti Reddy, former MLAs Kancharla Bhoopal Reddy and Nomula Bhagat, activist Cheruku Sudhakar, former MLC Narsireddy, former municipal chairman Saidi Reddy and representatives of various student, social and caste organisations participated in the meeting.
