Rare heart tumor successfully removed in Nizamabad Medicover

Doctors at Medicover Hospitals in Ellammagutta in Nizamabad have successfully performed a complex open-heart surgery to remove a tumor that was obstructing blood flow inside the heart of a woman in her 40s. Doctors described the procedure as a rare and challenging cardiac surgery and said it was performed successfully for the first time in Nizamabad. Cardiac surgeon Dr. Rakesh Kumar said the patient had initially approached the hospital with breathing difficulties and swelling in her legs. Further investigations revealed that a tumor inside the heart was obstructing normal blood flow.

Doctors decided that surgical intervention was necessary and performed an open-heart procedure to remove the growth that was blocking the circulation. The patient recovered well following the surgery and was subsequently discharged in a healthy condition, Dr. Rakesh Kumar said. He also clarified that not every tumor found in the heart is cancerous. He explained that cardiac tumors can have different causes and characteristics, while cancer-related growths may present with different symptoms.

Anaesthesiology specialist Dr. Aleti Vanu and Medicover Hospitals Deputy Superintendent Dr. Kurapati Yagna said a tumor obstructing blood flow within the heart is an uncommon and technically challenging condition. The doctors advised patients experiencing persistent or unusual symptoms to consult qualified medical specialists and undergo appropriate investigations before beginning treatment.
