Quantinuum eyes partnership with AP

Global quantum computing company Quantinuum has expressed interest in partnering with the Andhra Pradesh government to develop a world-class quantum ecosystem in Amaravati, aligning with India's National Quantum Mission.

A delegation led by Quantinuum CEO Rajeeb Hazra met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the State Secretariat on Friday to discuss strategic collaboration for developing Amaravati Quantum Valley into a global hub for quantum innovation, advanced research and next-generation technology.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister said quantum computing and artificial intelligence should serve as key drivers of economic development and technological advancement. He said the state government has identified quantum computing as a transformative technology and is establishing Amaravati Quantum Valley to position Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of emerging technologies.

Naidu announced that the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre is expected to become operational by December this year, adding that quantum testing facilities have already begun functioning in the state.

The discussions focused on collaboration in quantum skill development, AI-powered quantum applications, advanced computing research, startup incubation and emerging technologies. Quantinuum also expressed its willingness to work with Andhra Pradesh across the entire quantum value chain, including quantum computer hardware manufacturing, quantum algorithms and software development.

The Chief Minister said Amaravati offers an ideal environment for quantum research and innovation, highlighting the government's commitment to building a globally competitive technology ecosystem.

The meeting was attended by Quantinuum Vice President Sitaramakrishna and Amaravati Quantum Mission Director C.V. Sridhar, among other officials. The proposed partnership is expected to strengthen Andhra Pradesh's efforts to emerge as a leading destination for quantum technology research, innovation and high-end technology investments.
