Pvt institute sets example, offers scholarships to needy

Unlike institutions that withhold hall tickets or certificates from students over unpaid fees, Jyothishmathi Institute of Technology and Science (Autonomous) is earning recognition for taking a student-centric approach by extending financial assistance to those pursuing higher education.

The college has emerged as a model institution by providing scholarships and financial support to students, helping them continue their studies without the burden of economic hardship. With the objective of strengthening students' academic futures through financial security, the institution has launched a scholarship initiative under the Shalini Educational Trust.

Every first-year B.Tech student admitted to the college is being awarded a scholarship of Rs 18,000 with the institution aiming to benefit 725 students. The financial assistance is intended to help students meet educational expenses and other academic needs, enabling them to pursue their engineering education without financial stress. In a remarkable humanitarian gesture; the college has also announced a full tuition waiver for a student from a financially distressed family. Bandi Vikas, a resident of Avunur village in Rajanna Sircilla district, was facing severe financial difficulties that threatened his dream of pursuing higher education.

His family had been struggling economically, and the situation worsened after his mother reportedly attempted suicide due to mounting financial pressures. After learning about Vikas' determination to continue his education despite these hardships, Jyothishmathi Institutions Chairman Juvvadi Sagar Rao personally reviewed the family's circumstances. Moved by the student's plight, he announced that Vikas would be granted free admission to the B.Tech program at Jyothishmathi Institute of Technology and Science, ensuring that financial constraints would not stand in the way of his education.

'No Student Should Be Forced to Quit Higher Education'

Speaking on the initiative, Chairman Juvvadi Sagar Rao said that no student should be forced to discontinue higher education because of financial difficulties. He stated that the scholarship program, implemented through the Shalini Educational Trust, was designed to allow students to focus entirely on their studies without worrying about educational expenses. He added that the institution remains committed to supporting deserving students and ensuring that financial hardship does not become a barrier to achieving their academic aspirations.
