Police Football Championship kicks off in Hyderabad

The 74th B.N. Mullick All India Police Football Championship 2025–26, hosted by the Telangana State Police, is to be kicked off on Wednesday at the GMC Balayogi Stadium in Gachibowli. The Governor of Telangana, Shiv Pratap Shukla, will inaugurate the event at 3:00 P.M. by lighting the ceremonial sports torch.

Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy said 43 teams, including police units from various states and Central Armed Police Forces, will compete over 12 days, until April 5. The tournament features 34 men’s teams and 9 women’s teams, with a total of 1,038 players—851 men and 187 women—taking part in 110 matches.

Matches will be held across five venues in Hyderabad: GMC Balayogi Stadium, HFC Stadium (Golconda), Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy Grounds, Sreenidhi Football Stadium, and the Artillery Grounds (Golconda).

 During the inaugural ceremony, teams will present a Guard of Honour to the Governor in a march past led by team captains.
