The Andhra Pradesh government has set the stage for the rapid reconstruction of Amaravati, taking decisive steps to resume capital development in a mission-mode approach. As part of this grand vision, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Andhra Pradesh in mid-April, with the foundation stone-laying ceremony expected to take place on either April 15 or April 20.

The state cabinet, in its upcoming meeting on March 17, is expected to formally approve the commencement of these infrastructure projects. Subsequently, the government will issue LOIs to the selected contractors, marking a crucial step in the revitalization of Amaravati.

A total of Rs.37,702 crore worth of tenders have been floated, with multiple contracting firms securing bids for the development of essential civic infrastructure in Amaravati. The government has been actively pushing forward with this ambitious redevelopment, with tendering processes initiated as early as December 15, 2024. The groundwork is set to commence by March 20, ensuring that the long-delayed capital city project is back on track.

Nine major contracting firms have secured tenders to undertake various development works in Amaravati. These include completing pending residential projects, building extensive road networks, laying stormwater drains and sewage systems, constructing cycling tracks along key roads, and developing essential amenities in the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) layouts.

By fast-tracking these developments, the government aims to transform Amaravati into a modern urban hub. One of the key projects under the renewed capital plan is the completion of the All India Services officers' residential quarters, which are already 85% finished. Additionally, the remaining construction of gazetted officers' quarters and the premium residential project ‘Happinest’ has been awarded to Nagarjuna Constructions.

With the imminent approval from the state cabinet and the central government's support, Amaravati’s redevelopment is set to gain momentum, promising a world-class capital city for Andhra Pradesh.
