Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Bhogapuram International Airport on August 1, marking a major milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s infrastructure development. Reviewing preparations for the inauguration, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described the airport as a “jewel of North Andhra” and said it would transform the region into a major hub for economic activity, tourism and investment.

Chairing a review meeting, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that the inaugural event is organised on a grand scale and becomes a landmark occasion. He said every aspect of the airport, from its architecture to visitor experience, should reflect Andhra Pradesh’s rich culture, tribal heritage and artistic traditions.

Naidu said the Bhogapuram airport, whose construction was accelerated and completed by the coalition government, would bring far-reaching economic benefits to North Andhra. Improved air connectivity, he said, would boost tourism, attract industries, generate employment and strengthen the Visakhapatnam Economic Region. Drawing parallels with Hyderabad’s Shamshabad International Airport, the Chief Minister said Bhogapuram would similarly reshape the economic landscape of the region. He added that with ongoing investments in ports, highways, irrigation projects, industries and tourism, North Andhra is poised for rapid and sustained growth.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that all eight key regulatory clearances required to commence airport operations have already been secured. Representatives of the airport developer GMR also briefed the meeting on the project’s infrastructure and passenger facilities. The review meeting was attended by Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar, senior ministers, Chief Secretary K. Sai Prasad, DGP Harish Kumar Gupta and other officials. The Chief Minister urged citizens, students and youth across North Andhra to participate in the inauguration and celebrate the airport as a symbol of the region’s development and future growth.
