Officials have announced a temporary suspension of the popular Papikondalu river tourism trip on the Godavari River owing to adverse weather conditions across Andhra Pradesh. The Water Resources Department said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of tourists amid unseasonal rains and strong winds affecting several regions in the state.

The Papikondalu cruise, considered one of the most sought-after tourism attractions for visitors from both Telugu states, has been witnessing heavy tourist footfall in recent months. However, authorities stated that changing weather conditions and the possibility of sudden increases in river flow posed safety concerns for passengers travelling through the scenic river stretch.

Officials explained that gusty winds, intermittent rainfall and unstable river conditions could increase the risk of accidents during the journey. In view of this, the tourism trip has been suspended until further notice.

The department clarified that the services would resume only after weather conditions improve and the environment becomes safe for navigation. Authorities said a fresh announcement regarding the reopening of the Papikondalu tourism circuit would be made officially after reviewing the prevailing conditions.

Tourists planning visits to Papikondalu have been advised to cooperate with officials and avoid travelling to the region until normal operations are restored. The administration stressed that the temporary suspension was purely a preventive step aimed at avoiding mishaps in the Godavari River during the current spell of unstable weather.
