Non-violence is a supreme strength: Union Minister Kishan Reddy

Union Minister Kishan Reddy on Sunday addressed a gathering at the unveiling ceremony of the first 'Ahimsa Stambham' (Pillar of Non-violence) in Miyapur of Hyderabad. He expressed pride that the first 'Ahimsa Stambham' in India was unveiled in Hyderabad, noting that it would convey the divine message of peace and non-violence to future generations. He commended the fact that women from the Jain community spearheaded this significant initiative, noting that it proclaims a message of unity and humanity to the world.

He highlighted the immense significance of the motto inscribed on the pillar Parasparopagraho Jivanam (Souls render service to one another) in today's turbulent world. He clarified that non-violence (Ahimsa) was not merely the absence of physical harm but involves practicing it in speech, behavior and thought. He emphasized that non-violence was not a sign of weakness but a supreme form of strength.

He noted that the development under Prime Minister Modi's leadership was being driven by women, citing the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' which provides for 33% reservation in the legislature as a testament to this. He acknowledged the role of diverse communities in Hyderabad's development, praising groups such as the Jain, Brahmin and Maheshwari communities for playing a pivotal role in the metropolis's economic, social and cultural progress.

He expressed the hope that, as part of achieving a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) by 2047, our cultural roots and values would be strengthened alongside economic and technological growth. He urged the 'Gen-Z' youth to conquer the world through technology while never forsaking Indian cultural values. He advised parents to impart good values to their children alongside material assets. He called upon everyone to unite and defeat the selfish forces attempting to fragment society, emphasizing that standing together in unity serves as a powerful driving force for a 'Viksit Bharat'
