Nalgonda to be transformed into super smart Vity: Komatireddy

Minister for Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has reiterated his commitment to transforming Nalgonda into a super smart city, announcing a series of major infrastructure projects aimed at driving all-round development across the constituency.

The Minister was speaking after inaugurating additional rooms and a conference hall constructed at a cost of Rs 2 crore at the Nalgonda Club here on Sunday. Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the Nalgonda Club had a pleasant atmosphere and would be highly useful to the people of the town. He assured the club management of his continued support for its development.

He said works had been taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 125 crore to provide 24-hour drinking water supply to Nalgonda town. The works would be completed within six months to ensure round-the-clock water supply, he said.

The Minister said completion of the SLBC tunnel was one of his major priorities. In line with the assurance given by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, efforts were being made to mobilise funds and expedite the works with the support of Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, he said.

The government had set a target of completing the SLBC tunnel works by August 2028, Venkat Reddy said. The estimated cost of the SLBC project had increased from Rs 2,000 crore to Rs 5,000 crore, while considerable progress had already been made on the tunnel works, he said. The Minister said irrigation projects were being expedited with the objective of providing water to every acre.
