Music mogul Clive Davis passes away at age of 94

Clive Davis, one of the most influential music executives in rock and pop history, has died at 94. The former head of Columbia and Arista Records helped shape the careers of artistes including Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys. His family said he died at his home in Manhattan, New York, while recovering from respiratory problems.

Born in Brooklyn in 1932, Davis rose to become president of Columbia Records and signed acts including Santana, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd and Springsteen. He later became one of the music industry’s most respected talent scouts. He was widely credited with identifying and nurturing musical talent, helping launch and revive the careers of numerous artistes.
