Minister for Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Kandula Durgesh has described Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s two-day visit to Rajahmundry as highly successful.
Addressing a media conference at Hukumpeta on Wednesday, the Minister said the visit not only put the entire administration on high alert but also infused fresh energy and accountability among officials. Durgesh said a clear roadmap has been prepared for the successful conduct of the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu. He emphasized that the festival will be organized in a pollution-free manner.
The Minister announced the formation of a Special Task Force with the Pollution Control Board (PCB) as the nodal agency to combat Godavari river pollution. A Government Order (GO) was issued on Wednesday morning under Principal Secretary Kantilal Dande.
A comprehensive pollution audit will be conducted shortly to identify pollution sources, he added. Minister Durgesh issued a stern warning to industries, particularly the Andhra Paper Mill. He criticized the mill for discharging untreated effluents into the river and failing to pay Rs 13 crore in dues to the municipality.
