Leading Rheumatologist calls for awareness on Lupus

In view of World Lupus Day on May 10, Dr. Mamatha Panathula Venkatesh, a leading Rheumatologist at GVK Health Hub, has issued a call  to increase public awareness regarding Lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease. Emphasizing the theme "Every day is a step forward," Dr. Mamatha underscored that knowledge and vigilance are the primary weapons required to conquer this complex condition.

 Dr. Mamatha mentioned that Lupus  has a significant prevalence amongst women, with a female-to-male ratio of approximately 9:1. Reflecting on the advancements in modern medicine, Dr. Mamatha highlighted that current treatment options are significantly more effective than in the past, offering patients a path toward long-term remission. The availability of biosimilar medications in India has also played a crucial role in making treatment more affordable, she said.
