Fund Jadcherla or I'll fast to death: MLA

Metro India News | Hyderabad : Ruling Congress MLA in Telangana J Anirudh Reddy on Monday said he is ready to undertake an indefinite fast and die to ensure that funds are released for the development of his assembly constituency. Reddy, MLA from Jadcharla in neighbouring Mahabubnagar district, said he is ready to start a fast with 30,000 people. He said Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who holds the finance portfolio, and Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy should provide funds for the constituency's development and completion of roads.

"You should quickly clear the bills in my constituency. Otherwise, I will sit on an indefinite fast. I would rather die. But you should sanction funds for Jadcharla. I will die during the indefinite fast if it is said that funds would be provided only if Anirudh Reddy dies. Then, you can give funds," he said, addressing a gathering.

He alleged that constituencies of ministers are receiving funds but not the MLAs.

Observing that bills worth Rs 5 crore were released when a contractor died, he said his Congress government should decide "whether he should live or if it is worth Rs 40 crores".

He said activists of different parties in the constituency should come together for the sake of development and that villages should receive water from projects.

Reddy vowed to strive for securing water and the constituency's development.
