LAMBCON 2026: Beacon of hope, says Governor

Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla described the sixth ‘UNICEF South Asia Chapter LAMBCON 2026’ as ‘a beacon of hope’ He inaugurated the event at Yashoda Hospitals, Hitech City along with former Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey and Yashoda Hospitals Group Chairman G. Ravinder Rao. Organized by the Sushena Health Foundation and Dhaatri Mothers’ Milk Bank, in partnership with national and international organizations including UNICEF India, this year’s theme is “From Evidence to Impact: Transforming Newborn Care Through Breastfeeding and Human Milk Banking.”

Former Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey termed it “a revolution protecting our youngest citizens.” Dr. Santhosh Kumar Kraleti, Founder and Secretary of the Sushena Health Foundation, said India needs more than 1,000 human milk banks across hospitals, while only around 65 to 70 currently exist.

Yashoda Hospitals Group Chairman G. Ravinder Rao announced the establishment of the “Yashodamma Mother’s Milk Bank”, in collaboration with the Sushena Health Foundation and Dhaatri Mothers’ Milk Bank, at the hospital’s Hitech City facility. The bank will provide safe donor human milk to babies who need it. A key highlight was the Deccan Declaration, which seeks to establish Hyderabad as a formula-free city through an action plan covering lactation counseling, human milk banks, workplace support and public breastfeeding spaces.
