Nagarkurnool witnessed heightened tension after Telangana Rajyadhikara Party (TRP) chief and MLC Teenmar Mallanna strongly reacted to the tragic death of a two-month-old baby boy during an attack on members of the Rajaka community in Kummera village amid the Kummera Mallanna Swamy Jatara celebrations.

Expressing deep anguish, Mallanna condemned what he termed as the failure of the authorities to ensure justice to the grieving family. He alleged that the police were not acting firmly against the accused and demanded immediate arrests. He also called upon the local MLA and MLC to publicly respond before the people and take moral responsibility for the incident.

During his visit to the village, Mallanna went to the houses of the alleged accused, which were found locked. Party leaders claimed that the occupants had fled after learning about his arrival. Mallanna challenged them to come forward and face the law, stating that no one would be spared from accountability.

On behalf of TRP, he announced Rs 2 lakh as immediate financial assistance to the bereaved family. He described it as interim relief and assured continued legal and moral support. While no compensation can make up for the loss of the infant boy, he said the party would stand by the family until justice is delivered.

Accompanied by the victim’s family members, Mallanna later visited the local police station and demanded strict action. A heated exchange reportedly took place between him and the DSP over the registration of the FIR, with Mallanna accusing the police of shielding the accused.

Protesting against alleged negligence, he staged a sit-in outside the police station and later undertook a 10-kilometre foot march to Kummera village. He paid tributes at the burial site of the baby boy and reiterated his resolve to continue the agitation until those responsible are brought before the law. Mallanna urged the government to take stringent measures to prevent caste-based violence and ensure protection for vulnerable communities. Several TRP leaders, party workers and BC organisation representatives joined the protest and extended solidarity to the grieving family..
